RAWALPINDI:

To improve crime control and ensure timely punishment for offenders, a new police station has been approved in Rawalpindi district.

The station will be headed by an inspector-level SHO and will initially have 12 investigation officers.

A DSP-level officer will oversee the investigation system.

In the first phase, cases related to robbery, kidnapping for ransom, gang rape, car theft, and extortion will be transferred to the new station.

Police stations across the district have begun compiling lists of such cases.

The new station is expected to be operational by the end of April.

Expert sub-inspectors in investigations will be appointed to the station. More investigation officers may be assigned based on the volume of cases.

This station will also handle land-grabbing cases involving citizens' properties. Citizens involved in serious cases can request the transfer of their cases from regular police stations to this new unit.
