Truck driver charged for reckless driving, woman taken into custody for firing shots in the air

A routine traffic dispute took a dramatic turn late Friday night in PIB Colony when a woman, enraged after a trailer truck collided with her car, pulled out a gun and fired shots into the air. The shocking outburst prompted police to arrest both the truck driver and the woman involved.

According to the complainant, ASI Sher Ahmad, he was on patrol duty when he observed a trailer truck and a car speeding near Isa Nagri cut at around 1am on Friday.

During this time, the truck driver attempted to overtake the car but ended up colliding with it, causing damage to the car. In retaliation, the woman exited her vehicle, drew a pistol, and fired shots into the air in a fit of rage.

The police arrested the truck driver, Zafar Iqbal, and also took the woman, Alisha into custody. They seized a 9mm pistol, a loaded magazine, and nine live rounds from her. When asked for her weapon licence, Alisha produced it on the spot, and the police took it into their possession along with both vehicles.

Subsequently, both the truck driver and the woman were transported to the police station. The police registered a case against the truck driver under sections 279 and 427 for reckless driving and carelessness.

The woman was charged under section 337-H for firing shots into the air. The PIB Colony police filed the case and handed it over to the Investigation Police for further inquiry.

The SHO of PIB Colony, Ashfaq, stated that the woman's weapon licence was issued in Quetta but had expired in 2024. The Investigation Police presented both the woman and the truck driver before court, where they were remanded to jail custody.
