The Punjab Environment Department has announced a ban on the establishment of new car wash stations across the province, citing concerns over water scarcity and potential drought conditions.
The notification, issued by the department, stated that the restriction on setting up new car wash facilities will take effect immediately.
"In light of the ongoing water shortage and possible drought, the decision has been made to curb excessive water usage," the notification read.
The department further warned that any violation of this order will result in legal action under the Pakistan Penal Code.
Water scarcity remains a growing concern in many parts of Pakistan, and the new ban aims to mitigate the increasing demand on the region's already strained water resources.
The Punjab government has yet to specify whether the ban will be temporary or permanent, though further details are expected in the coming weeks.
