KARACHI:

A 38-year-old man fatally shot by ruthless muggers in DHA while resisting a robbery was laid to rest in a local graveyard amid moving scenes. A large number of family members, relatives, residents, political leaders, and police officials attended the funeral of the deceased, 35-year-old Aamir Sultan.

Speaking to the media, the victim's brother, Shakir Sultan, demanded that police track down and arrest the perpetrators to prevent similar tragedies. "My brother fought to protect his children. Now, I am responsible for his family, and his children must be taken care of like a father would," he added.

According to police, Aamir Sultan was attacked on the third day of Eid near Tooba Masjid in DHA Phase 1 Commercial Area. SSP South Mahzoor Ali, who was present at the funeral, disclosed that a police patrol had passed through the area just 15 minutes before the incident. Due to market closures that day, the robbers found an opportunity to target the victim, who resisted their attempt to snatch his belongings.

Despite overpowering one of the robbers, Aamir Sultan was shot when the muggers realised they could not escape. Police have acquired CCTV footage from the area and are interrogating several suspects. "We are analysing footage and questioning known offenders. A breakthrough is expected soon," the SSP stated.

A case has been registered at the Defence police station under murder and robbery charges on the complaint filed by the victim's brother. The FIR details how Aamir Sultan was attacked by three unidentified men on motorcycles while checking his car outside his apartment.

His brother Shakir stated that the robbers had circled the area before approaching the victim. When Aamir resisted, a struggle ensued, triggering one of the assailants to open fire, fatally wounding him before fleeing with his wallet and mobile phone.
