Amazon MGM’s vision for a "fresh, exotic" take on James Bond has ignited a heated debate among fans following its reveal at CinemaCon 2025.
Studio executives Courtenay Valenti and Sue Kroll confirmed the franchise’s new direction, emphasizing a balance between legacy and innovation. “We are committed to honoring the legacy of this iconic character while bringing a fresh, exotic new chapter,” they stated.
If it is WOKE, I'm sad to say I will not watch any medium of a woke 007.

The announcement quickly went viral, with fans on social media voicing mixed reactions. Some criticized the shift, fearing it could stray too far from Ian Fleming’s original vision. Comments like "Bond was already perfect" and "That's it, Bond went woke" reflected skepticism. Others embraced the change, with some advocating for a female 007 or a Black actor in the role.
Following Amazon’s acquisition of MGM, longtime Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli stepped back, giving Amazon MGM full creative control over the franchise. The change has fueled speculation about casting, with fans suggesting Henry Cavill or Theo James as potential successors to Daniel Craig.
With the new Bond era officially underway, the debate over 007’s future is far from over.
