Country singer Morgan Wallen made a surprise exit from Saturday Night Live on March 29, immediately after the show concluded.

Wallen, 31, was the musical guest for the episode, which featured Mikey Madison as the host. The actress, 26, recently won the Best Actress award at the 2025 Oscars for her role in Anora. As the show wrapped up, Madison stood alongside Wallen on the Studio 8H stage to thank the cast, crew, and audience. As she spoke, Wallen leaned in to whisper something to her before quickly leaving the stage. He was seen walking past the camera without acknowledging it.

Shortly after, Wallen shared an image on his Instagram Stories of a private jet with the caption: "Get me to God's country." It remains unclear why he left so suddenly.

During the episode, Wallen performed two songs from his upcoming album, I'm the Problem, which is set to release on May 16. His first performance was the album’s title track, followed by "Just in Case."

This marked Wallen’s first SNL appearance since December 2020, when he performed "7 Summers" and "Still Goin’ Down." His 2020 appearance came after an earlier controversy, where he was disinvited from the show for violating COVID-19 protocols. At the time, he was photographed partying without a mask and kissing multiple women in Alabama.

A representative for Wallen did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on March 30.

SNL will return on April 5, with Jack Black as the host and Elton John and Brandi Carlile as musical guests.
