Pakistan’s opening batter, Usman Khan, has been ruled out of the second ODI against New Zealand after suffering a hamstring injury, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed on Sunday.

The 29-year-old sustained the injury while fielding during Pakistan’s first ODI against New Zealand at McLean Park in Napier on Friday. An MRI scan revealed a low-grade tear, leaving him unavailable for the second ODI, scheduled for April 2 at Seddon Park in Hamilton.

Pakistan is currently in New Zealand for a three-match ODI series, which the hosts lead 1-0. The second ODI will be played on Wednesday, followed by the final match on Saturday, April 5, at Bay Oval.

Pakistan's chase of 345 in the first ODI ended in defeat, as they were bowled out for 271, losing by 73 runs.
