Pakistan’s Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has announced the sighting of the Shawwal moon, confirming that Eid ul-Fitr will be celebrated across the country on Monday, March 31.

Committee chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad made the announcement on Sunday, stating that credible moon sighting testimonies were received from various cities, including Islamabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, and Gujranwala.

"After verifying the testimonies, it was unanimously decided that Eid ul-Fitr will be observed on March 31," he said.

Earlier, the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee convened in Islamabad under Maulana Azad’s chairmanship, with religious scholars, meteorologists, and experts from SUPARCO (Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission) in attendance.

Experts had earlier stated that the Shawwal moon was born on Saturday at 3:59 PM and would be over 25 hours old by sunset on Sunday, making it easily visible to the naked eye.

The announcement paves the way for nationwide Eid celebrations, marking the end of Ramadan.
