
A violent altercation between public transport staff and the National Highway & Motorway Police (NHMP) at 26 Number Chungi has surfaced, with video footage of uniformed officers "assaulting" bus crew members going viral.
In response, motorway police accused the transport staff of attacking an officer, damaging a government-issued tablet, and tearing his uniform.
According to sources, NHMP personnel were managing heavy traffic congestion at 26 Number Chungi when an argument broke out between them and a passenger bus crew.
The situation quickly escalated into a physical confrontation, captured on video.
The footage shows four uniformed NHMP officers physically assaulting a bus staff member.
One officer is seen wielding a baton and striking the transport worker, while another individual in civilian clothing is also seen pushing the bus crew member.
NHMP officials stated that the transport staff attacked Inspector Noor Faraz, beat him, destroyed a government-issued tablet, and tore his uniform.
In response, additional police personnel were deployed to control the situation, and a legal complaint was filed against the accused at Tarnol police station.
Following the incident, the additional inspector general (AIG) of the North region took immediate notice and formed an inquiry committee under the leadership of Sector Commander North-1 SP Jawad Shah.
Authorities have pledged a thorough investigation to ensure justice and uncover all aspects of the incident.
