Courts approve bail for 134 accused

RAWALPINDI:

Various courts in Rawalpindi have granted bail to 134 accused individuals in various cases while rejecting bail applications for 10 others.

Among those who applied for bail were 78 individuals arrested in connection with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest cases.

On Friday, March 28, the high court is set to hear 87 more bail applications, while district and special courts will hear a total of 207 bail petitions.

These include cases involving PTI workers arrested in connection with the November 24 and 26 protests.

Meanwhile, 31 individuals have been placed on physical remand, and 16 have been sent to Adiala Jail on judicial remand.

Four accused have been convicted, while eight have been acquitted. Additionally, six individuals have been declared absconders, and arrest warrants have been issued for three others.

In disciplinary actions, the salaries of two police officers have been withheld.

Five women housed in a shelter home (Dar-ul-Aman) have been sent back to their families, while in 11 new family cases, husbands have been summoned to court.

Over 62 divorced couples were facilitated in meeting their estranged children for Eid.

Grandparents, uncles, and aunts were also present during these emotional reunions, where the separated parents gave their children Eid gifts and monetary tokens.
