Ben Affleck talks about 'simple' truth behind split with Jennifer Lopez

Ben Affleck is opening up about his recent divorce from Jennifer Lopez, sharing his perspective in an interview with British GQ.

The Oscar-winning actor addressed the end of their relationship and dispelled any rumors of a scandal or dramatic breakup, explaining that the truth behind their split was much simpler than the public might have imagined.

Affleck explained that their divorce wasn’t the result of a specific dramatic event but rather a natural evolution in their relationship. “There’s no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue. It’s just a story about people trying to figure out their lives and relationships,” he shared. He also highlighted that relationships change over time, adding, “As you get older, you don’t always have the same attitude toward things.”

He further emphasized his respect for Lopez, noting her ability to handle fame in a way that he struggles with. “She’s handled celebrity more adeptly than I have,” Affleck said, acknowledging the challenges they faced in navigating their public lives. He also clarified that their differences were not a major cause of the breakup, referencing his own more private nature compared to Lopez’s public persona.

Affleck's remarks also touched on his vulnerability, saying that sharing personal details about his relationships felt “embarrassing” and too private to discuss openly. He dismissed the notion that Lopez’s documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told, revealed any hidden truths about their divorce, clarifying that it was not the root of their issues.

Despite the divorce, Affleck continues to express deep respect for Lopez and praised his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, as a “wonderful” co-parent.
