Gwyneth Paltrow has set the record straight amid viral rumours that she was subtly attacking Meghan Markle with a recent Instagram post.
The speculation began after Paltrow posted a video of herself cooking breakfast in her kitchen in pyjamas, which some claimed was a dig at Markle’s Netflix series With Love, Meghan, known for being filmed in a staged farmhouse set.
Social media quickly lit up with comments praising Paltrow for being “relatable” and using her actual home, in contrast to what critics called Markle’s overly curated brand. Comments like “no fake house, fake kitchen, fake hair extensions” led many to suggest Paltrow was “throwing shade.”
However, Paltrow shocked everyone by addressing the supposed feud in an Instagram Story posted Tuesday. In a Q&A session, she read a follower’s question aloud: “Are you comprehending the Meghan Markle beef that social media says you two have?” Her reply: “I genuinely do not understand this.”
To further drive the point home, Paltrow turned her camera to reveal Markle sitting beside her at the table, casually taking a bite of pie. The duchess shrugged and looked puzzled, adding fuel to the surprise and shutting down feud rumours. Markle later reshared the clip to her own Instagram Story.
Though both women live in Montecito, California, Paltrow told Vanity Fair in April that she didn’t “know Meghan and Harry” personally, but noted that Markle “seems really lovely.” She added, “Maybe I’ll try to get through their security detail and bring them a pie.”
Despite criticism of Markle’s show as inauthentic, it debuted in Netflix’s global Top 10 and has been renewed for a second season. Paltrow’s own approach to lifestyle content remains grounded in relatability and female solidarity.
“Another woman is never your competition,” Paltrow said, quoting her mother Blythe Danner. “What is right for you will find you.”
