In a candid interview during a local channel's Ramazan transmission, actor Azfar Rehman shed light on why he keeps his personal life - and especially his marriage - out of the public eye. Known for his charm and charisma, Azfar revealed that his decision stems from both personal principles and his wife's preferences.
Addressing the topic of his wife's absence from public platforms, Azfar shared that her privacy was a conscious decision from the start. "My wife doesn't like [appearing on social media]. Her first requirement was that she doesn't want to be involved in all this," he said, emphasising how important it is for him to respect her wishes.
The actor got married to wife Fiya Sheikh in 2017. Since the appearance of their wedding photos, both husband and wife have remained private about their personal life and Fiya's professional life as well.
Azfar also spoke about his own choice to disengage from the performative aspects of social media. "Social media is a very dangerous addiction, to seek validation by posting something every two minutes. I have freed myself and my family from it," he explained.
The actor's insights also touched upon the fragility of relationships in the entertainment industry, where public scrutiny often takes a toll. "The relationships of so many of my closest friends in the industry have been forged and ruined, and when these relationships get ruined, they become a spectacle for the general public," he said. "I think marriage and relationships are very fragile and should be kept under wraps."
Azfar's words resonate deeply in an industry that often sees personal lives unravel in public. Recently, Danish Taimoor, husband of Ayeza Khan faced faced backlash due to his controversial take on polygamy with many assuming that their marriage must be on the rocks. While the couple dismissed the speculation, it highlighted how online visibility fuels unnecessary assumptions.
Similarly, Sajal Ali and Ahad Raza Mir's divorce became a trending topic, with fans and media alike dissecting every detail of their relationship's breakdown. Despite Sajal's efforts to maintain her privacy, her personal life was relentlessly discussed on social media and in the press, turning a deeply personal experience into a public spectacle. The conversation picked up traction on Monday again, when Sajal changed her last name from Ahad's back to Ali. The two divorced in March 2022.
By keeping his personal life off limits, Azfar has avoided the pitfalls that come with public scrutiny. He and his wife, Mahwish, choose to live their lives away from social media's relentless gaze. "We travel everywhere together. Mahwish and I attend my friends' events together. Just not social media," Azfar explained.
