Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif ordered the suspension from service of the Jinnah Hospital medical superintendent over complaints of mismanagement during a visit to the healthcare facility on Monday.

She directed the principal of the institution to resign from his post.

According to an official statement, complaints poured on during the CM's surprise visit to the hospital, where she also inspected the medicine store.

The chief minister expressed severe indignation over complaints from patients of being deprived of medicines despite their availability in the store.

She spoke to patients and their attendants in the emergency ward and checked their prescriptions and medicines being given to them.

She inquired from the patients about the availability of medicines and other facilities, including medical tests. The patients complained about not receiving medicines in the emergency ward and other issues.

The chief minister also reviewed cleanliness arrangements and other affairs. She expressed displeasure over unavailability of medicines in the emergency ward.

Chairing a meeting to review administrative affairs of Mayo Hospital, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz ordered immediate payment of due funds of government hospitals. She also directed the authorities concerned to take immediate steps for providing free medicines to the government hospitals.
