There is no dearth of talented young people in Pakistan who are eager to excel in their respective fields and take pride in representing the country at the national as well as the international level with aplomb and grace.
One such talented young man is Taimur Mustafa, a student at Habib University, who has been working tirelessly and diligently to showcase his abilities at the academics as well as in sports.
Taimur's focus and hard work in cricket earned him a first-class debut for the Higher Education Commission (HEC) this year against WAPDA as a right-arm medium fast bowler and a handy right-handed batsman.
That was a great moment for young Taimur who is keen to make his mark for Pakistan in the game which has attained the status of a lifeline for the nation during the past many decades.
Hailing from a family with a strong tradition of academic excellence, Taimur has always recognised the importance of education alongside his passion for cricket. He pursued his O and A-levels through an accelerated program, ensuring he could commit to professional cricket without compromising his academic performance.
Beyond sports and academics, Taimur draws inspiration from his late grandfather's brother, Ghulam Kibriya, co-founder of the Orangi Pilot Project. Aspiring to contribute to the social sector in the future, he hopes to build on his family's legacy.
Coinciding with his First Class debut has come another big news for Taimur who has now been selected by Pacers Academy Australia to play club cricket in Australia in the next season.
No wonder the young lad is on cloud nine after receiving the offer from Australia and is determined to make his mark there. "I am very thankful to Allah for rewarding me for my hard work and am grateful to my parents for always encouraging me and for giving me confidence to take up the various challenges in life," says Taimur.
As a keen observer of the game, Taimur also loves to write about cricket and has contributed a number of articles in the local newspapers and periodicals. The 21-year-old's dedication to both his studies and sport exemplifies exceptional discipline which is a rare a quality, indeed, in today's age of distractions.
