Pakistan’s veteran tennis duo Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and Aqeel Khan made history by winning gold in the men’s 45+ doubles category at the ITF Masters World Championship, held in Manavgat, Turkey.

The win marks a significant milestone for Pakistan in international tennis, as the pair outperformed seasoned players to secure the top podium finish.

Separately, Qureshi also claimed gold in the 40+ mixed doubles category alongside French partner Magali Girard. The pair defeated Germany’s Katharina Rath and Andreas Theussen 7-5, 6-3 in a dramatic final.

Trailing 2-5 in the first set, Qureshi and Girard made a comeback to win five consecutive games. They went on to dominate the second set with consistent play and strong net presence.

“I am truly happy with this win,” Qureshi said after the match. “I thank God for giving me the strength to win another gold for Pakistan.”

He dedicated the victory to the people of Pakistan, calling it a special gift ahead of Pakistan Day on 23 March. “Seeing the national flag rise on the global stage fills my heart with pride,” he said.

The back-to-back gold medals highlight the continued success of Pakistan’s senior tennis players and their ability to compete at the highest levels of veteran tennis worldwide.
