In a new twist to the high-profile kidnapping and murder of Mustafa Amir, investigation has pointed to possible involvement of police in the gruesome crime.
Sources confirmed that the investigation into the prime accused Armughan Qureshi's possible connections with police led investigators to his association with Investigation Officer (IO) Nadeem, who was serving at PS Gizri. Despite being questioned during the investigation, IO Nadeem was later cleared of any misconduct.
Further details from the investigation suggest that, following the registration of a case against Armughan at PS Gizri, he allegedly transferred a specified sum of money to IO Nadeem via the bank account of Rahim, an employee of the suspect. Investigators are currently probing into the motive behind this transaction.
Investigators uncovered a disturbing incident from January, when Armughan allegedly physically assaulted a woman. According to reports, the suspect subsequently made a phone call to an unidentified officer in the District South police, urging for the arrest of the victim and the filing of a fabricated case against her. However, police records indicate that no action was taken on this request.
Retracts confessional statement
Armughan, has once again deceived the police by denying the allegations in connection with the case. He promised to give a confessional statement in the morning, but when presented before the Judicial Magistrate, he denied. The court remarked that Armughan's mental state was not suitable for recording a confessional statement, as he had previously admitted to the crime but later retracted his statement.
