In a shocking case of domestic violence, a woman in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district allegedly bit off a portion of her husband’s tongue during a heated argument, police said.
The accused, 23-year-old Ravina Sain, has been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, according to police officials.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Brijraj Singh stated that the victim, 25-year-old Kanhayalal Sain, had been married to Ravina for 18 months. Their relationship was reportedly troubled, often marked by conflicts.
On Thursday night, an argument escalated, leading Ravina to allegedly bite off a portion of her husband's tongue in a fit of rage.
Family members rushed Kanhayalal to a local hospital before he was referred to Jhalawar Medical College Hospital for further treatment. Doctors have indicated that his tongue may be surgically reattached.
Following the incident, Ravina reportedly locked herself in a room and attempted to harm herself by slitting her wrist with a sickle. However, family members intervened in time.
The case was registered based on a complaint filed by Kanhayalal’s brother, and police are awaiting the victim’s official statement as investigations continue.
