The Oscar-winning musical Wicked is now available for streaming on Peacock, giving fans the chance to revisit the magical world of Elphaba and Glinda from the comfort of their homes.
Released in theaters in November 2024, Wicked became a massive box office success, earning over $700 million worldwide. After a VOD release in early 2025, the film is now officially streaming on NBC’s Peacock as of March 21, 2025.
Based on the Broadway musical and Gregory Maguire’s novel, Wicked serves as a prequel to The Wizard of Oz, telling the backstory of Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West. The film stars Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda the Good Witch, both of whom received Oscar nominations for their performances. The film received 10 Academy Award nominations, winning Best Costume Design and Best Production Design.
To stream Wicked, viewers need a Peacock subscription. The service costs $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year with ads, or $13.99 per month or $139.99 per year for an ad-free experience. Unlike some platforms, Peacock does not offer a free trial, meaning a paid subscription is required.
Fans can also enjoy a sing-along version, deleted scenes, and behind-the-scenes specials like Making Wicked and Defying Gravity: The Curtain Rises on Wicked. For collectors, Wicked is also available on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD, having been released in February 2025.
The sequel, Wicked: For Good, is set to hit theaters on November 21, 2025, continuing the story from Act Two of the musical.
