LAHORE:

Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Farooq Haider has sought a response of the deputy commissioner of the provincial capital by Friday over the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) plea seeking permission to organize a rally at Minar-e-Pakistan on March 22.

The order was issued despite a law officer's contention that there was no need for the official to submit the reply.

In earlier proceedings, Justice Haider had sought response from the chief secretary and the DC of Lahore by March 20 but he did not submit his reply.

When the judge asked why the DC had not submitted his reply, the law officer argued that the other respondents had submitted their replies, following which his response was not needed.

However, Justice Haider directed the deputy commissioner to submit his reply by Friday.
