During a local interview, Mikaal Zulfiqar received a brazen phone call from a fan, who didn't hesitate to voice her feelings for him. "I am a die-hard fan of his. I want to marry him. Please, tell me a solution to this. What must I do to accomplish this?"
Struck with disbelief, Mikaal laughed for a while before commenting on the public proposal. "Look, we can't discuss these things over the phone. If we ever meet and sit down together, then we'll see what to do about this," he joked. "But I'm flattered!"
While this caller turned out to be an unexpected admirer, another caller was more curious about the Diyare Dil actor's past closeness with model Zara Sheikh. "There was a time early on in my career when I was very close to Zara," he admitted.
"I was very young at the time, about 20 to 21, and she wasn't much older either. Back then, she was a very big star," he said. "I had grown up in England, so I was exposed to a different environment. And Zara was very Eastern, which wasn't a bad thing, just new to me. So, I was very infatuated by her. There's no doubt."
Mikaal mentioned that the two had worked together on a few modelling gigs. "Unfortunately, Zara didn't pursue her career all that much. There was a lot she could've been. She had a fantastic voice. She was a brilliant singer, like the proper classical type. In fact, music was her strength."
He added that he would encourage her to pursue music, though neither of them ended up doing it. "She was also a very good actor," he said. "But you know, I wish her the best. It was a different time."
The 43-year-old actor was once married to model Sara Bhatti, whom he divorced in 2017. In an interview with Wasi Shah last year, Mikaal expressed that he had no desire to tie the knot again despite his family's insistence.
The actor recounted a discussion with his family regarding the subject. "I was visiting the United States. My father told me that I can find a foreign woman there [for marriage]," Mikaal shared with a laugh.
He further relayed that he was in a good place in his life with his children and felt no necessity for marriage yet. "I don't really think about marriage now. I have kids, I am at peace."
