Drew Barrymore’s remarks leave Meghan Markle flustered during interview about Prince Harry

Drew Barrymore appeared overly enthusiastic during Meghan Markle’s appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, leading to a slightly awkward yet heartfelt moment. The interview, filmed on March 4—the same day Markle’s new Netflix series With Love, Meghan premiered—took an unexpected turn when the host gushed about Markle’s relationship with Prince Harry.

As reported by InStyle, Barrymore enthusiastically shared, “Every time I know someone who knows you two, they always say the same thing—‘They’re so hot for each other.’” A visibly flustered Markle, sensing what was coming, laughed and asked, “What is she about to say?” Barrymore continued, “Every time I see a photo of you, you’re holding hands, you’re kissing—you’re so affectionate.” She added that their love radiates in a way that is impossible to ignore.

Momentarily caught off guard, Markle responded, “I mean, look, life is full of surprises. I never expected to meet H [her nickname for Harry] and for this to be our love story. I’m very lucky.” She continued to gush about her husband, calling him “the funniest, kindest, most charming person” and praising his parenting skills.

During the conversation, Markle also shared a personal memory from her college days. She recalled advice from the father of a child she used to babysit, who once told her, “When you meet your person, I hope he says what I told my wife: ‘I vow to always date my wife.’” Markle revealed that she later shared this with Harry early in their relationship, and he responded, “I vow to always date you.” She explained that this mindset keeps their marriage strong, allowing them to nurture their love just as they did before marriage.

Interestingly, years before meeting Harry, Markle was asked in an interview if she’d rather date Prince William or Harry. Without hesitation, she answered, “Harry, sure.” As reported by Harper’s Bazaar, that answer turned into reality when a mutual friend set them up on a blind date in 2016. Two years later, they married in a grand royal wedding and have since built a life together with their two children.
