Jason Isaacs is walking back comments he made about male nudity during The White Lotus Season 3 press tour, acknowledging that his wording was incorrect and reaffirming that women have faced significant exploitation in the industry.

During interviews, Isaacs had joked about his full-frontal scene, stating that male actors are questioned about nudity more than women. However, after his remarks went viral, he clarified to Variety that he misspoke.

"I said the wrong words in the wrong way," Isaacs admitted. "I used the phrase ‘double standard,’ which I didn’t mean at all. Women have been monstrously exploited, and men haven’t."

He also expressed regret for mentioning actresses Mikey Madison (Anora) and Margaret Qualley (The Substance) while trying to make his point. "I absolutely should not have mentioned those two actresses, whom I respect enormously."

Isaacs, who plays Timothy Ratliff in The White Lotus Season 3, believes the show’s creator, Mike White, includes male nudity to "redress the unfair balance" in Hollywood.

"Women have been exploited forever in cinema, made gratuitously naked, and asked inappropriate questions," Isaacs said.

Despite the controversy, Isaacs teased that upcoming White Lotus episodes will shift attention away from his nude scene. "There’s plenty of other fabulous stuff coming down the pike," he hinted.
