Intrepid thieves dig 150-foot tunnel to steal oil from pipeline

The police seized a tanker containing 50,000 liters of crude oil upon identification of the accused.

KARACHI:

The police have traced a major incident of oil theft in the Korangi area, arresting six accused involved who had rented a warehouse to carry out the crime. Police officials reveal that the accused carried out the theft by installing a clip after digging up to 150 feet in the warehouse and gaining access to an oil line passing through.

Excavation inside the warehouse revealed the accused had also dug a tunnel up to the green belt on the side of the road. According to police officials, the arrested individuals were allegedly stealing thousands of liters of oil daily, during Ramazan, by filling a huge tanker. A case has been registered against them along with two other named accused. Further investigations are ongoing.

According to SSP Korangi, Tariq Nawaz, on Saturday another tanker with a large amount of stolen oil from a pipeline was caught. The police seized the tanker containing 25,000 liters of crude oil, arresting six suspects involved in the theft.

Meanwhile, in Zaman Town, the police seized a tanker containing 50,000 liters of crude oil upon identification of the accused.
