RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has declared 157 housing schemes illegal and has formally requested the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Revenue to impose a ban on the sale and purchase of plots within these schemes.

According to a letter issued by RDA's Director of Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering, Tahir Mayo, the housing schemes in question had previously applied for approval from RDA and the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) but later withdrew their applications and proceeded illegally.

As a result, these schemes have now been officially declared unlawful, warranting restrictions on property transactions.

The RDA has also initiated legal action against these illegal schemes under the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976 and the Punjab Development Authorities Private Housing Scheme Rules 2021, including lodging complaints at relevant police stations.

The illegal housing schemes are located in multiple areas, including Rawalpindi, Kallar Syedan, Gujar Khan, Kahuta, Tahlian Rawat, Chakri, Mandra, Taxila, Wah Cantt, Chontra, Nasirabad, Kalyam, Fateh Jang, and Dhamaial. Citizens have been advised to avoid investing in these schemes to prevent financial losses.

These housing projects have been using deceptive marketing tactics.
