Peshawar has imposed a ban on toy guns and firecrackers under Section 144 due to security concerns, local media reported on Sunday.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Peshawar Sarmad Saleem Akram, the decision has been made in the interest of maintaining peace and order. He added that any violation of the ban would result in legal action under Section 188.

In addition, the district administration has decided to take strict action against those selling toy guns during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.

The district administration emphasised that the ban is a measure to safeguard national security and to eliminate the growing culture of toy weapons in the region.
