Demi Lovato reassured fans after viewers noticed her hands were shaking in a recent TikTok cooking video.

The 32-year-old singer, who uses she/they pronouns, shared a recipe for roasted chicken on March 11, where she admitted to feeling “nervous” about handling raw meat. The video, part of Lovato’s Cooking With Demi series, showed them preparing, seasoning, and roasting a whole chicken.

On ✨Cooking With Demi✨ we are all about facing our fears. Today we did that by trying out a recipe for a whole roasted chicken. It wasn’t pretty at times, but it wasn’t nearly as overwhelming as I thought it would be and I’m really proud to have this recipe in my back pocket now 🖤 INGREDIENTS: 1 3 3/4 to 4 pound chicken 1 lemon Kosher salt 1 1/2 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme, plus 10 sprigs 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper 2 or 3 carrots, peeled and cut in chunks 1 medium yukon gold potato, cut in chunks 3 garlic cloves, smashed and peeled ½ small onion 1 stalk celery 5 or 6 ¾-inch slices of a baguette 2 big handfuls of baby arugula 1 tablespoon vinegar

However, several users expressed concern over her visibly trembling hands. One viewer commented, “I'm afraid of seeing her shaking that hard,” prompting a direct response from Lovato, who wrote, “I’m okay! I promise.” She also noted that she might use gloves in future videos to feel more comfortable.

Lovato launched the cooking series in July 2024 as a way to rebuild a healthy relationship with food. She has previously spoken about her struggles with an eating disorder, recalling how her former management team controlled her diet, even replacing traditional birthday cakes with a “watermelon cake” topped with fat-free whipped cream.

Speaking to Teen Vogue last September, Lovato described cooking as a form of personal rebellion against her past struggles. “It’s one aspect of rebellion in my life that hasn’t gotten me into trouble,” she said.

Beyond her cooking ventures, Lovato has been open about her experiences as a child star and her past battles with addiction and mental health issues. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she shared how stardom became overwhelming after her 2008 Disney Channel debut in Camp Rock, admitting she has little recollection of that period.

Lovato is currently engaged to musician Jordan “Jutes” Lutes, celebrating their engagement anniversary in December 2023. While they have not publicly shared wedding plans, Lovato expressed excitement about their future together.
