“Fast Unto Death”: Akhtar’s sugar level, blood pressure dropping

Personal physician of Akhtar said that the activist was losing his memory as well.

On the fourth day of his hunger strike Raja Jehangir Akhtar’s blood pressure and sugar level fell below normal on Thursday. The personal physician of Akhtar, who is on a “fast unto death” strike against the rampant corruption in the society, said that the activist was losing his memory as well.


According to a press release issued by the hunger strike committee on Thursday, the doctor said that Akhtar’s blood pressure had started dropping below 70. The personal physician of Akhtar is conducting checkups to meet any medical emergency.

Many more political leaders, social activists and members of civil society visited the camp in F-6 to express their solidarity with Akhtar. These included Muhammad Hussain Gopang from PPP (SB), Ashraf Samaa, art curator and member of Women Action Forum Nageen Hayat, Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Mian Anwar Pasha and traders leader Muhammad Asif.
