KARACHI:

With the increase in intensity of heat during the holy month of Ramazan, most areas of the city are experiencing power outages of long durations, with some areas reporting load-shedding up to 18 hours. However, K-Electric claims that the power supply in the city is normal, and the maximum load-shedding duration is 10 hours.

Citizens say, they are facing difficulties in performing their prayers and other daily activities during Ramazan due to the prolonged power outages.

The areas, worst affected by the load shedding include Korangi, Landhi, Bhains Colony, Malir, Liaquatabad, PIB Colony, Ranchore Line, Lyari, Mehmoodabad, Manzoor Colony, Korangi Crossing, North Karachi, New Karachi, Surjani Town, Baldia Town, Orangi Town, Site, Keamari, FC Area and others.

The affected citizens, especially the poor and middle-class residents who live in houses with tin roofs and those who have no alternative means of getting electricity face the worst situation due to the load shedding.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for K-Electric claimed that 70 per cent of the city is exempted from load-shedding, while 30 per cent faces power outages due to power losses.
