LAFC held off a fierce Columbus Crew comeback to advance to the Concacaf Champions Cup quarterfinals, progressing with a 4-2 aggregate win despite a 2-1 loss at Lower.com Field on Tuesday.
The Crew, trailing 3-0 from the first leg, nearly turned the tie around. Jacen Russell-Rowe struck early in the 10th minute, followed by a goal from former LAFC forward Diego Rossi just before halftime.
The hosts continued to press, but Hugo Lloris delivered two crucial saves, including a dramatic goal-line stop, to preserve LAFC’s advantage.

Cruz Azul 4, Seattle Sounders 1 (4-1 agg.)
Seattle Sounders FC exited the tournament after a heavy 4-1 loss at Cruz Azul. A scoreless first leg left the tie open, but Charly Rodríguez and Ángel Sepúlveda put the hosts in control before Danny Musovski pulled one back for Seattle.
Any hopes of a comeback were dashed as Luka Romero and Jorge Sánchez added late goals for Cruz Azul, sealing Seattle’s elimination. Injuries to Jordan Morris and Paul Arriola further compounded a disappointing night for the Sounders.
