WHO provides Rs70m medical aid to K-P

Dr Loduping donates ultrasound, X-ray, PCR machines to health department

PESHAWAR:

The World Health Organization (WHO) on Monday donated medicines and medical equipment worth Rs70 million to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Health Department.

In this regard, World Health Organization (WHO) Representative Dr Loduping met Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Health Advisor Ihtesham Ali and discussed various public health matters. During the meeting, Dr Loduping donated medicines and med-ical equipment to the provincial health department.

The medicines and medical supplies have been provided to handle emergency situations and improve healthcare services in the province. The donated items include ultrasound machines, X-ray machines, PCR machines and other essential medical devices.

Health Advisor Ihtesham Ali expressed gratitude to WHO and Dr Loduping for the kind gesture, acknowledging WHO's consistent support for the province, especially during health emergencies. He urged WHO to continue assisting in strengthening primary healthcare and immunization programs in the province. He further emphasized that uninterrupted healthcare services in remote areas of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa required contin-ued support from WHO.

Dr Lu daping thanked the Health Advisor for the warm welcome, adding he is well aware of the health challenges in Khy-ber-Pakhtunkhwa. He also highlighted that changes in global financial policies had impacted WHO as well, but Khyber- Pakhtunkhwa remains a priority for the organisation.

Dr Lu daping reaffirmed WHO's commitment to working with the K-P Health Department to control the dengue outbreak and support other public health initiatives.
