Lauren Graham unintentionally revealed the identity of the father of Mae Whitman’s baby during a recent appearance on the Armchair Expert podcast.

The revelation happened while Graham was chatting with host Dax Shepard about her long-standing friendship with Whitman. The two actresses, known for playing mother and daughter Sarah Braverman and Amber Holt on the hit series Parenthood, were reminiscing when Graham casually mentioned, “Carlos, her baby daddy, is on Broadway in Hadestown.”

This slip of the tongue confirmed that Carlos Valdes, Whitman’s co-star from the short-lived Hulu series Up Here, is the father of her son, Miles. Valdes, a Broadway performer, has previously spoken about his new fatherhood journey, though he preferred to keep details private.

Mae Whitman had previously announced the birth of her son, Miles, in August, but did not disclose the father’s identity. In a heartfelt post, she shared how much joy the new arrival brought to their lives, naming him after her Parenthood co-star, Miles Heizer.

While the identities of Whitman’s partner and their family life were previously kept private, Graham’s candidness has now shed light on this new chapter in Whitman’s life.
