Baylee Littrell, the son of Backstreet Boys member Brian Littrell, had an unforgettable moment during his American Idol audition, as his famous father joined him on stage.

The 22-year-old singer-songwriter performed an original song on his guitar during the premiere of American Idol season 23 on March 10. After Baylee’s performance, judges Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie were so impressed that they encouraged him to invite Brian into the room for a duet. Together, the father-son duo sang the chorus of Baylee’s original song, further impressing the panel.

Carrie Underwood praised Baylee for holding his own alongside his superstar dad. “For your superstar singer dad to come in here, I feel like for anybody else, it would make you look bad,” Carrie said. “But it didn’t. You were right there with him. You didn’t pale, you didn’t shy away. You were like, ‘This is my moment.’”

Baylee credited his father for introducing him to music and passing down his talent. “I believe I get my voice from Dad, and hopefully I can do him justice today,” he said. He also admitted that following in his father’s footsteps is daunting, especially considering Brian’s legendary career in music.

Brian, visibly emotional after witnessing Baylee’s audition, shared his pride in his son’s talent. “He’s 10 times more talented than I ever was,” Brian remarked.

After their performance, the judges unanimously voted to send Baylee to the next round, leaving Brian moved to tears. “I’m gonna cry,” he said, expressing his overwhelming pride.
