In the age of artificial intelligence, it seems that even love and relationships can benefit from a little tech support.
A surprising new trend has emerged where couples, facing the same old relationship struggles, turn to AI tools like ChatGPT to help mediate conflicts, restore communication, and even save marriages.
One couple, Dom Versaci and Abella Bala, credit ChatGPT with helping them avoid divorce after using the AI platform to resolve their issues.

“ChatGPT has saved our relationship,” said Abella Bala, 36, an influencer talent manager from Los Angeles, in an interview with The New York Post.
Rather than letting unresolved disagreements linger, the couple has found that turning to the sophisticated AI system helps them get back on track. With just a few keystrokes and a WiFi connection, they found a neutral, non-judgmental mediator for their relationship.

Like many couples, Versaci and Bala faced significant challenges in their relationship, but AI gave them a new way to navigate their conflicts.
The couple had been using ChatGPT for six months to address their issues before things escalated to the point of divorce.
They turned to the chatbot when they were stuck and struggling to communicate. ChatGPT, with its ever-expanding knowledge base, provided them with advice that was both neutral and effective.

Abella shared her experience, saying, “ChatGPT saved our relationship.” She explained that the AI tool helped them bridge the communication gap by offering useful advice that made both of them feel heard and understood.
They found that the AI’s suggestions, though sometimes unconventional, helped ease the tension. In one instance, ChatGPT suggested they “open up” their relationship to include additional lovers—a suggestion they quickly shut down.
At another point, the chatbot suggested that Abella offer Dom a "hall pass" to date other women. While the suggestions might have raised eyebrows, the couple found that they helped lighten the mood.
No matter how silly it is for ChatGPT to suggest a 'hall pass' for the couple, the most important thing is that the ridiculousness made them laugh!
“ChatGPT is weirdly helpful for de-escalating fights,” Bala remarked. “Neither of us want to argue back and forth with a robot.”

The couple’s humorous take on the AI’s offbeat advice is a testament to how the tool can help shift perspectives during tough conversations.
In a world where many are seeking more affordable and convenient ways to maintain emotional well-being, AI provides a surprisingly effective solution.
The couple used ChatGPT’s premium package, which costs only $20 per month—far more affordable than the average therapy session. Therapy can be very costly, especially in places like New York City, where some sessions can exceed $400.
Dom, a 29-year-old data scientist, pointed out, “Sometimes, you just need an impartial person to tell you who’s being unreasonable.”
He added, “ChatGPT is the cheapest, least judgmental option.” This affordability made it an attractive alternative for them to resolve their issues without the financial burden of traditional counseling.

Many couples are finding that chatbot therapy provides the support they need without the costs and potential discomfort that can come with speaking to a human therapist.
ChatGPT’s neutral stance is another reason it’s so appealing—without judgment, it can offer a fresh perspective that helps couples think through their relationship problems in a non-threatening way.
While ChatGPT can’t replace the personalized insights or deep emotional support that a licensed therapist might provide, its role as an accessible, non-judgmental platform for communication is a major plus.
“Chatbot therapy might be useful to help you think through a response to a relationship concern or to respond to an awkward conversation,” Bala explained. It’s an easy-to-access, stress-free solution for navigating tricky moments, allowing couples to resolve issues in a way that feels low-pressure.
For many couples, AI is becoming more than just a tool for everyday tasks; it’s evolving into a valuable partner in their emotional lives.
For Versaci and Bala, it has become an essential ally in keeping their relationship strong. Their experience highlights the potential for AI to serve as a key tool in relationship management, offering practical solutions and a neutral voice to help guide tough conversations.
As AI technology continues to evolve, could this be the future of relationship counseling?
