The Tesla and SpaceX CEO had posted on X (formerly Twitter) last week, stating he would be open to an interview with Stewart—under the condition that it be aired without edits.
Stewart opened his monologue by referencing his past critique of Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, weaving in his signature humor while poking fun at the billionaire’s personal controversies. He then directly accepted Musk’s challenge, noting that The Daily Show’s in-studio interviews are typically aired unedited anyway.
"But after thinking about his offer, I thought, ‘You know, hey, that’s actually how the in-studio interviews normally air. Unedited.’ So sure. We’d be delighted," Stewart said. "As a matter of fact, let me sweeten or unsweeten the pot. The interview can be 15 minutes, an hour, two hours, whatever."
Doubling down on his offer, Stewart humorously reassured Musk that The Daily Show had plenty of time to accommodate him, adding a playful jab about Comedy Central’s open programming schedule.
Musk has not yet publicly responded to Stewart’s invitation, but given his history of high-profile interviews—including appearances on Joe Rogan’s podcast and lengthy discussions on X Spaces—there is speculation about whether he will accept. If Musk agrees, the interview could be a rare, unfiltered conversation between the outspoken tech mogul and the veteran comedian—one that could generate significant buzz and headlines.
