Drake made a surprise appearance at WWE’s Elimination Chamber event at Rogers Centre in Toronto on Saturday, putting wrestling fans in a frenzy.
The “Gimme A Hug” rapper initially tried to go unnoticed, ditching his usual flashy attire for a low-profile look—wearing a black hoodie, a camo cap, and no signature diamond chains. However, even with his attempt at blending in, fans quickly spotted him in the crowd.
Once the cameras found him, Drake fully embraced the moment, playing up to the crowd just like any die-hard WWE fan would.
However, WWE didn't officially announce his presence, but that didn’t stop him from getting recognition.
Drake enjoyed the event alongside rapper Lil Yachty and another OVO associate, taking in the high-energy atmosphere from a prime spot behind the announcers' desk.
Logan Paul, competing in the Elimination Chamber match, acknowledged Drake in a unique way. While waiting to enter the ring, Paul grabbed a marker, wrote “OVO” on the chamber glass, and pointed toward the rapper. The moment, captured on video by Lil Yachty, showed Drake smiling and appreciating the shoutout.
Drake was captured especially enjoying the unsanctioned match between two Canadians, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens.
Many wondered on social media whether Drake had asked WWE not to appear on their live broadcast, to avoid possibly getting booed by his hometown crowd. It could be due to a number of controversies seemingly plaguing the Canadian rapper.
Despite the backlash, Drake seemed to enjoy his night out in his hometown. Whether he addresses the controversy remains to be seen, but for now, it’s clear that WWE got another high-profile celebrity stamp of approval.
