The 97th Academy Awards celebrated cinematic achievements, but discussions online quickly shifted to Hollywood’s growing obsession with weight loss.

A parade of noticeably slimmer celebrities—including Ariana Grande, Demi Moore, Julianne Hough, and Selena Gomez—fueled speculation that the entertainment industry is embracing the return of the size zero trend, with many attributing the transformations to weight-loss drugs like Ozempic.

Fans took to social media to react to the stars' strikingly thin appearances, with one X user writing, “The biggest winner tonight at #Oscars is OBVIOUSLY Ozempic.” Another user added, “Oprah and Whoopi being a walking billboard for Ozempic. #Oscars.”

Grande, 31, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for Wicked, turned heads in a pink Schiaparelli gown that highlighted her delicate frame. Some fans voiced concern, with one posting, “Not that skinny, no. She looks unhealthily skinny, like either sick or she has an eating disorder.”

Demi Moore, 62, also made headlines with her stunning silver gown, showing off her toned physique after reportedly losing 20 pounds for her role in The Substance. Julianne Hough, Mindy Kaling, and Whoopi Goldberg also showcased noticeably slimmed-down figures. Goldberg, 69, previously admitted to using the weight-loss medication Mounjaro after reaching 300 pounds, while Kaling has remained silent on speculation about her transformation.

Even Oprah Winfrey, who has shed nearly 50 pounds, has been open about using a weight-loss drug, explaining, “I thought thin people had more willpower. Turns out, they’re just not thinking about food all the time.”

X users continued to weigh in on the trend, with one joking, “Ozempic has introduced the newest accessory at the #Oscars. The sternum.” Another bluntly noted, “The Oscars is like an advertisement for why nobody should use Ozempic. Hooo-ly.”

As Hollywood continues to embrace ultra-thin aesthetics, the conversation around celebrity weight loss—whether naturally achieved, medically assisted, or the result of industry pressures—remains a hot topic, raising concerns about its influence on beauty standards and body image.
