A policeman was shot dead during a suspected incident of robbery in Bakrani area of Larkana district on Sunday. The incident happened on Larkana-Moen Jo Daro road in the limits of Bakrani police station.
Rafique Shaikh sustained two gunshots and died after he was shifted to the trauma center Larkana in a seriously injured condition, SHO Abdul Sattar Bhayo told the media. Although Shaikh's family claimed that the slain cop had no known enemies, the SHO said the police wanted to rule out every shred of doubt that the killing occurred due to a robbery.
According to him, the suspects neither took away his motorbike nor other valuables. Qurban Ali Shaikh, brother, said his brother had no known enemies. The body's postmortem was performed at taluka hospital Dokri. The incident's FIR could not be registered by Sunday evening.
Separately, Madeji police in Shikharpur district on Sunday lodged an FIR on the state's complaint in the matter of killing of a policeman Muhammad Ramazan Bhutto during an encounter on Friday in which another cop, Niaz Rahujo, was also injured. The case has been registered on complaint of ASI Rajab Buriro.
Hafeez Kalhoro, Rashid Kalhoro, Aitbar Kalhoro, Qurban Kalhoro, Mashooq Kalhoro and six unknown men have been booked under sections 302, 324, 353, 148 and 149 of Pakistan Penal Code in the FIR. However, none of the accused has been arrested so far. DIG Larkana Police Range Nasir Aftab Pathan on Sunday condoled with family of Bhutto and assured that the culprits will be brought to the book.
