RAWALPINDI:

The annual matriculation examinations under all nine Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), including Rawalpindi, across Punjab will commence tomorrow (Tuesday).

The annual Intermediate Part-II (grade 12) exams will begin on April 29, while the Part-I (grade 11) exams are scheduled to start on May 20.

Foolproof security arrangements have been finalised, and CCTV cameras have been installed in examination centers for monitoring.

All Deputy Commissioners (DCs) across the province have imposed Section 144 around examination centres, prohibiting unauthorised individuals, weapons, and any material related to cheating, including registered summaries, calculators, and mobile phones within a 100-meter radius.

Even examination staff, officials, and visiting authorities will not be allowed to bring mobile phones inside the centres. Additionally, police personnel have been deployed at every examination centre, and question papers will be transported under police security this year.

Under the Rawalpindi BISE, a total of 399 examination centres have been set up across the Rawalpindi Division, with 97 centres declared highly sensitive, where additional police deployment has been made.

The breakdown of sensitive centers is as follows: 15 in Attock, 17 in Jhelum, and eight in Chakwal. A total of 120,024 students will appear for the exams, and roll number slips and date sheets have already been issued.

For monitoring, apart from the Chairman, Secretary, and Controller of Examinations, teams from the Punjab Chief Minister's Office, commissioners, DCs, and ministers will conduct surprise visits to exam centres. Legal action, including arrests, will be taken against those caught cheating.

Meanwhile, annual exams for government schools across Punjab will begin on March 10 and continue until March 20.

The results are scheduled to be announced on March 31, but due to Eidul Fitr, the results are expected to be released on March 29. The new academic session (2025-26) will commence on April 5.
