CM Maryam Nawaz steps up efforts to control inflation in Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered an effective and comprehensive crackdown to curb inflation across the province.
The chief minister directed all commissioners and deputy commissioners to launch an effective campaign against price gouging and instructed them to prominently display the official price lists.
Maryam Nawaz also ordered strict monitoring of the supply and demand of essential food items and instructed action to prevent hoarding.
She instructed the Punjab Chief Secretary to personally supervise the campaign against price gouging and hoarding, to present daily comprehensive reports on prices, and to ensure the quality and rates of food items.
The Punjab CM directed the deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners to closely monitor the prices of bread and flour. She also ordered the Food Authority to launch a crackdown to ensure the quality of food items.
Maryam Nawaz stated that strict monitoring of the prices and supply of fruits and vegetables would be conducted during Ramadan. She instructed that strict legal action be taken against those who raise the prices of fruits and vegetables.
She emphasised that Ramadan is a month of blessings and mercy, and urged the business community to be considerate of the poor.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif mentioned that she is personally checking the daily prices of food items through the dashboard and vowed that during Ramadan, there would be no leniency in action against price gouging and hoarding.
