Additional Sessions Judge Rana Tanveer Ahmed sentenced a man accused of murder in a case registered in the Sandal Bar police station to death and ordered the payment of Rs1 million as compensation.

According to the prosecution, Ahmad Raza, a resident of Dhoor, along with his accomplice Shahid Zulfiqar, had shot and killed Muhammad Zeeshan on May 4, 2022.

The judge sentenced the accused to death under Section 302B of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and Section 544-A of the Criminal Procedure Code and ordered him to pay Rs1 million as compensation to the heirs of the deceased.

If the accused fails to pay the compensation, he will have to serve an additional six months of imprisonment.

The court granted the benefit of doubt to the co-accused, Shahid Zulfiqar, and acquitted him.
