TikToker Rajab Butt to face cybercrime charges under PECA Act

Authorities have decided to add sections of Pakistan’s Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) to the case registered against TikToker Rajab Butt and seven others, including Haider Shah and Maan Dogar, police said on Saturday.

The move follows allegations that Butt and his associates harassed and threatened complainant Umar Fayaz via TikTok, prompting legal action.

According to SSP Investigation, legal experts are reviewing the case before formally applying PECA provisions.

The complaint, filed by social media artist Fayaz, accuses Butt, Dogar, and Shah of arriving at his residence with armed men in the early hours. The FIR states that Dogar verbally abused and threatened Fayaz during a TikTok live session.

All suspects have secured interim bail and are cooperating with the investigation. Police confirm that the inquiry will now proceed under both conventional legal sections and cybercrime laws.
