KARACHI:

In a bold display of self-criticism Karachi Police Chief Javed Alam Odho admitted incompetence of police in the Mustafa kidnapping and murder case.

The police were unaware of the criminal activities of Armughan, the main suspect.

Odho expressed these thoughts while attending the installation ceremony of modern Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras in 10 patrol mobiles at the Defence police station.

Odho said that action has been taken against police personnel for their negligence.

Armughan had been arrested before, and local residents were also afraid of him.

During the investigation, big names are coming forward, which are becoming a problem for the police, he said, adding that Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Sindh IG Ghulam Nabi Memon have been contacted in this regard, who have directed that no pardon will be given to those involved in the narcotics trade.

We do not want to turn young people addicted to narcotics and develop as criminals.

Odho said that to stop drug use, families of those addicted must also come forward.
