CM wants online skill course registration

List of 622 unapproved institutions published on website

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has issued directives to launch an online portal to ensure easy and fast online registration for technical and vocational training institutions from Saturday to ensure optimum opportunities for the youth.

According to a statement, she said, "From receipt of application to the issuance of certificate, the entire process will be completely online."

She said the registration would be open for the three-year Diploma of Associate Engineer (DAE) courses at a discounted fee.

The chief minister said the condition of opening a bank account in the name of the institution had been relaxed till the issuance of certificate by it. She added that the students and their parents would be freed of the hassle of visiting the offices by providing them all relevant information online.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said, "Under the Punjab Skills Development Authority Act 2019, it has been made mandatory for all technical and vocational training institutions to get themselves registered with the Punjab Skills Development Authority."

In case of violation, six months imprisonment and a fine of up to Rs1 million will be imposed.

She highlighted that a list of 622 illegal and unapproved institutions had been published on the website of the authority.

"Details of all approved institutions along with the approved courses are available on the web portal. Curriculums of the approved courses are also available on the PSDA website," she added.

She said complaints could be filed online regarding any illegal institution. A helpline has also been set up for seeking information on technical and vocational institutions."

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said, "We want our youth to move towards self-employment by making them skillful. We want to provide opportunities to the unemployed, a valuable asset of the country."

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz condemned a bomb explosion in a mosque in Nowshera expressed deep sorrow over the martyrdom of Maulana Hamidul Haq and other worshippers. She prayed for the speedy recovery of the worshippers injured in the blast. She said, "The bomb blast after Friday prayers in the Akora Khattak Jamia Masjid is a terrorist activity. We will win the war against terrorism.
