PMD issues fresh alert for rain and snow
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted rain and snowfall in several parts of the country today.
While most regions are expected to experience dry weather with partly cloudy skies, scattered rain and snowfall are predicted in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Balochistan, northeast Punjab, Islamabad, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
In Islamabad and surrounding areas, the weather will remain partly cloudy, with the possibility of strong winds, thunderstorms, and intermittent rain throughout the day.
The PMD also indicated that the capital city could experience more rain during the day, along with brief periods of thunder and lightning.
In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, most districts will experience cold weather with partly cloudy conditions. However, the upper regions, including Dera, Chitral, Kohistan, Swat, Shangla, Manshera, Battagram, Buner, Abbottabad, Swabi, Mardan, Malakand, Bajaur, Nowshera, Peshawar, and Charsadda, are expected to witness intermittent rain and snowfall in the mountains, along with strong winds and thunderstorms.
Punjab’s weather will also be cold, with most districts seeing partly cloudy skies. In areas like Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Gujrat, Chakwal, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Okara, Kasur, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, and Sheikhupura, intermittent rain and hailstorms are expected. The hill stations of Murree, Galyat, and nearby areas may experience intermittent rain and snowfall.
The PMD also predicted that the minimum temperature in Lahore would be around 14°C, with a maximum of 23°C. While dry weather is expected to return tomorrow, the department has forecasted another spell of rain on March 2.
In Sindh, the weather will remain dry in most districts. However, Karachi may witness overcast skies, and light rain or drizzle is possible in the outskirts.
Balochistan is expected to have cold weather with partly cloudy skies. The day will bring rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall in regions like Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Kalat, Zhob, Musa Khel, Loralai, Barkhan, Sibi, and Khuzdar.
Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan will also experience intermittent rain and snowfall, along with strong winds and thunderstorms.
The PMD recorded the lowest temperatures in Leh (-04°C), Parachinar (-03°C), Gopas, and Bagroot (-02°C), and Malam Jabba (-01°C).
