Opposition parties in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa have expressed strong reservations over the renaming of the Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium, demanding that the provincial government should reconsider its decision and reverse the name change.
Leaders of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F), Awami National Party (ANP), and other political parties expressed these views during a joint press conference at the Peshawar Press Club.
PPP leader and former federal minister Arbab Alamgir while opposing the move questioned the need for the name change, citing more pressing issues in the province. He said that the stadium is associated with Arbab Niaz for 37 years and that changing it would go against tradition
