LAHORE:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed candidates emerged victorious in the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) elections for the 2025-26 term, defeating their main rival, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

The Professional Group, led by PTI's Hamid Khan, secured the presidency with Malik Asif Naswana winning 7,050 votes.

His closest competitor, Saqib Akram Gondal of the Independent Group, garnered 6,460 votes.

The Independent Group, traditionally associated with the late Asma Jahangir, is currently led by senior lawyer Ahsan Bhoon, an ally of PML-N's Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar.
