Kanye West reportedly relapsed into nitrous oxide use, leading to memory issues and strained relationships

Kanye West is reportedly struggling with a relapse into nitrous oxide use, according to multiple sources close to the rapper.

The 47-year-old musician and designer, recently back in Los Angeles, allegedly began using the substance after dental work in January, with a friend stating that this marked the beginning of his return to laughing gas. Sources say the substance has intensified West's already erratic behavior, leading to further complications in his personal and professional life.

One insider reported to NYP that nitrous oxide use has caused tension in West's marriage to Bianca Censori, particularly after a Grammy party in early February. The source noted that West’s behaviour in Los Angeles became more unpredictable, with the rapper engaging in actions not typical of him, especially when he was in Japan.

A third source explained that West uses nitrous oxide as a form of “medication,” which reportedly triggers emotional and mental meltdowns when the effects wear off. The source described the aftermath of using the gas as a “cultural Tourettes experience,” where West’s thoughts become disjointed and he speaks without filter.

Concerns over West’s mental state have been exacerbated by his increasingly erratic actions, such as recent controversial tweets and actions involving antisemitic comments and Nazi symbols. Sources say his memory has suffered, with some claiming that West often forgets conversations and facts within days.

The allegations against West’s dentist, Thomas Connelly, have also resurfaced. Last year, Milo Yiannopoulos accused Connelly of intentionally getting West hooked on nitrous oxide to exploit his mental state.
