White Lotus Season 3: Thailand’s Hotspots Featured in the Latest Season
The third season of The White Lotus has officially landed, and with it, a new destination for its anthology series.
Each season of this dark comedy-drama brings a fresh location, and season one took us to Hawaii, while season two transported audiences to the enchanting island of Sicily.
This time, Mike White’s Emmy-winning show sets its sights on Thailand—an exotic destination that promises both beauty and intrigue.
The third season, which premiered on February 16, has already begun drawing attention to Thailand as the next must-visit hotspot. A star-studded cast joins the drama, including Carrie Coon, Michelle Monaghan, Jason Isaacs, and Thailand’s own K-pop sensation, Lalisa ‘Lisa’ Manobal.
Returning to the show is fan favorite Natasha Rothwell, reprising her role as Belinda. The anticipation is palpable, and with the backdrop of Thailand’s stunning scenery, it’s clear why viewers are eager to tune in.
While the drama unfolds on screen, the real star of season three is Thailand itself.
The Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui plays a starring role as the "White Lotus Resort & Spa," continuing the tradition of featuring Four Seasons properties from the first two seasons. Set against the picturesque beaches of Koh Samui, this season showcases the luxurious pool villas, sprawling fitness areas, and elegant restaurants of the Four Seasons.
However, the show’s magic isn’t limited to one location.
The Anantara Lawana Koh Samui Resort’s Singing Bird Lounge becomes the "White Lotus" bar, and scenes at Anantara Bophut Koh Samui reveal the lobby, security station, and even a jewelry store.
These luxurious spots are just the beginning. The show also features the iconic Choeng Mon Beach, Am Samui Resort, and the serene Wat Phu Khao Thong temple, adding richness to the island’s portrayal.
For those looking for even more adventure, the nearby island of Koh Phangan, famed for its Full Moon parties, also makes an appearance, as does the breathtaking Mu Ko Ang Thong National Marine Park. These locations bring the magic of Thailand to life in a way only The White Lotus can.
But the thrills aren’t confined to Koh Samui. Season three also takes us to Thailand’s largest island, Phuket, located in the Andaman Sea.
Here, several scenes are shot, including those featuring Belinda, played by Rothwell, at the Anantara Mai Khao Phuket resort.
The luxurious Rosewood Phuket’s Ta Khai restaurant becomes the setting for White Lotus dinner scenes, and attractions like Bangla Boxing, Ya Nui Beach, and Phuket Yacht Haven Marina are showcased.
Additionally, Bangkok’s historic Mandarin Oriental Hotel makes a brief appearance in the trailer, adding a touch of grandeur to the vibrant city. As more viewers flock to Thailand after watching the show, the Tourism Authority of Thailand expects to see a significant surge in international visitors.
“We are honored to have amazing Thailand featured as the filming location for the highly anticipated upcoming season of ‘The White Lotus,’” said Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
“The kingdom’s exotic natural beauty, rich historical sites and diverse landscapes are the perfect settings to share our fascinating culture, fantastic cuisine, top-notch wellness and luxury offerings, and most importantly our people and Thai hospitality.”
Since The White Lotus season two, set in Sicily, saw a 300% increase in hotel searches, Thailand is poised to benefit similarly. Hotels.com data reveals that searches for Koh Samui have jumped by 40% as fans are eager to experience the locations that shaped the show.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand has big goals for 2025, with expectations to welcome up to 40 million international visitors.
For those looking to live out the White Lotus dream, multiple tour companies have already created Thailand packages based on the show’s most iconic spots.
Whether you want to stay in a luxurious Four Seasons villa or explore the untouched beauty of Koh Phangan, Thailand is about to see a tourism boom, all thanks to the drama and allure of The White Lotus.
