Sabrina Carpenter has teamed up with country music icon Dolly Parton for a surprising new rendition of her hit single "Please Please Please," featured on the deluxe edition of her album Short N Sweet.
The collaboration, released on February 14, 2025, adds a country twist to the pop track, with Parton’s distinct vocals complementing Carpenter’s original performance. The track’s remix is part of a special repackaging of the album, which also includes five new songs.
The accompanying music video, directed by Sean Price Williams, takes inspiration from the classic film Thelma & Louise. In the video, Carpenter and Parton embark on a road trip together, with a playful and cheeky vibe. At one point, Carpenter hands Parton a shovel, leading to a surprising scene where the camera reveals a tied-up figure in the back of the vehicle, wearing the same clothes worn by Carpenter’s ex-boyfriend, actor Barry Keoghan, in the video for the original song.
While Carpenter and Keoghan’s relationship is no longer public, the nod to him in the new video has sparked curiosity among fans. The video’s plot, where the two women appear carefree and in control despite the mysterious situation, contrasts with the more dramatic earlier visual featuring Keoghan.
The remixed version of "Please Please Please" marks a unique fusion of pop and country, showcasing Carpenter’s versatility as an artist and adding another memorable collaboration to Parton’s storied career. With a strong social media following and a history of viral moments, this new release is sure to keep fans talking long after Valentine’s Day.
